About Us
We’re a bunch of local artists and tech/ex-tech workers looking to disrupt tech comedy in San Francisco.
We built this show with one goal in mind: Create a new, unique comedy experience that redefines what comedy is for the tech community, while keeping it fun for those who aren’t indoctrinated into the tech cult.
When we’re not hosting our monthly show, you can find many of us performing improv on stages around San Francisco and the Bay Area.
FAQ
Do I have to work in tech to understand or enjoy the show?
Absolutely not! Although our show is tech themed (our actors take on the personas of tech workers), everyone can enjoy the show as long as you’ve ever touched a phone or computer!
If you haven’t, you probably will still find most of it funny.
How do I buy tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/go-tech-yourself-tickets-1029313784237
Is this standup comedy or improv?
Our show is unique in that we have two halves where the top of each half feels a little like standup, however it’s unscripted. The majority of the show will be long form improvised comedy.
Can I suggest an app idea for the show?
Yes! Audience participation is a key part of the show. You’ll be invited to submit your app idea before the show starts. Who knows, your app idea might be chosen!
Do you use all the suggestions (spoiler: only some of them)
While we see some very creative suggestions come through our show, our current format does not allow us to explore everyone’s suggestions (bummer, we know). Our cast of comedians choose a couple at the top of the show which get pitched and the cast explores those ideas in depth. Was your idea not chosen? No worries! Come back to a later show and resubmit, who knows it might be chosen!

What’s the general format of the show?
The show consists of two halves, each half has a five minute blind pitch of one audience suggestion followed by a 20 minute longform improv set transforming that discussion into unhinged live comedy. The total show format runs about one hour.
How long before the show should I arrive?
The showtime is listed on the ticket purchased. Please plan to arrive to the theater at least 15 minutes before the indicated showtime to allow for sufficient time to check-in and purchase concessions (depending on the theater we’re performing at).
Is this shortform or longform improv

We focus on longform improvised comedy, so think of it like we’re building a theatrical play as opposed to rapid-fire bits. It’s wild, and it allows us to find moments you’ll cherish.
Is there an age limit?
Our artform relies on ideas suggested by the audience and ideas generated by spontaneous improvised comedy. As such, the show is generally recommended for ages 18+ due to possible adult themes and language.
Do you do private shows or events?
Absolutely! We love private shows for companies, parties, and events. Email us at gotechyourselfcomedy@gmail.com to schedule!
Do you offer classes or workshops?
We offer corporate improv workshops, team building workshops, and general improv lessons directly or through our partners. Contact us at gotechyourselfcomedy@gmail.com with your inquiry. We may hold one-off classes or workshops from time to time, so follow us on social to keep up to date!
What if I can’t make it to the show, what is your refund policy?
We handle ticketing through the third party venues we rent from. As such, ticket policies vary by venue, but generally tickets are non-refundable. See the refund policy on the ticketing page where you bought your tickets from for more information.
